The main point to have fast working system is keeping as much free space on system hard drive as you can. Windows likes free space on drive C: - it constantly uses disks to exchange data between system and running programs. Also, you may wish to add RAM memory to your computer.
And of course, a large number of installed and running in the background programs will decrease the speed of any system.
